Art Against Knives is a youth-led charity working to reduce the root causes of knife crime through arts initiatives that provide a positive alternative to violent gang culture in the Hackney area.
City Art & Framing are a local business who recognise the importance of AAK’s cause, and were extremely helpful in completing the framing for the Art Against Knives x Mother Drucker March 2012 exhibition ‘As the Crow Flies’ at the AAK Gallery in Boxpark, Shoreditch.
The exhibition featured several large-scale urban silk-screen prints from various European urban artists. City Art & Framing provided helpful and swift advice for this job, which was completed with short-notice, to a high standard, and for a great price.
The support that AAK receives from local businesses like City Art & Framing means that more of the revenue we generate from our gallery space can feed straight back our youth-led creative opportunities that we provide for local young people, which focus on developing skills and providing insights that can be transferred into the working world.
By providing a sense of ownership and purpose, we work to bridge the gap created by the influx of development in East London and the young people who already live there.
